Chicago FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

  • Where is the Chicago production of Blue Man Group located?

Blue Man Group performs at Chicago's Briar Street Theatre, located in the Lakeview neighborhood, just north of the downtown Loop and Magnificent Mile. The Briar Street Theatre is also very near Wrigley Field, for those groups that will also be catching a Cubs game during their stay in Chicago.

For those patrons traveling by Chicago's L trains, you will want to take the Red/Brown/Purple lines to the Belmont stop, and then walk two blocks east to Halsted. The Briar Street Theatre is located at 3133 N Halsted, just one block south of Belmont. We are also easily accessible by CTA bus, and it is generally pretty easy to catch a cab in the Briar Street Theatre neighborhood. Please click here for more detailed directions to the theatre.

  • Are there food and beverage facilities in or around the theatre?

Light snacks (cookies, candy) are sold at the theatre before the show, at the lobby bar area. If you are interested some suggestions of other dining options in the area of the theatre, please click here for a Preferred Restaurant list.

  • What age is appropriate for the show? Should I bring my small child?

Blue Man Group appeals to all ages, but children under five (5) years of age are not permitted. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theatre. Please be aware that the show contains dynamic live music and utilizes a state-of-the-art sound system--there is a lot of music and percussion in the performance, as well as use of a strobe light (for just under five minutes). Since noise and strobe lighting can affect patrons of all ages, we suggest you ensure that this would be acceptable for everyone attending the performance.

  • In what language is the show performed?

The Blue Men themselves do not have a spoken language, although there are moments during the performance when an English language voiceover is used. There are also moments pre-show, as well as during the performance, where an LED readout scrolls in English. Most non-English speaking and/or hearing-impaired patrons find the show tremendously enjoyable, and do not consider the printed language or voiceover portions of the performances to be a detriment to their overall experience.

  • Is there wheelchair-accessible seating at the Briar Street Theatre?

The Briar Street Theatre has a limited amount of wheelchair-accessible seating available for our patrons who use wheelchairs. Patrons who are unable to transfer to a regular theatre seat should contact the theatre Box Office to ensure availability of accessible seating. Arrangements must be made prior to arrival at the theatre. House Management cannot guarantee wheelchair-accessible seating without prior notification.
